Imagine waking up ten years from today...
Opening your royalty report...
And realizing that an entire decade of writing books earned you barely more than $1,000.
Not per month. Not per year. Ten years... with 17 books. That’s exactly what happened to me.
Amazon royalties, November 23, 2016 – October 20, 2026: US$1,061.41.
My Amazon royalties for 17 books, November 2016 to October 2026.
Between 2016 and 2025, I published 17 books on Amazon, in 25 formats. Seventeen books. Nearly ten years of late nights, research, rewrites and launches. US$1,061.41.
Now let’s do some math together. At that rate, my books were earning me about $106 a year. How long would it take to make $100,000? 942 years. Read that again. Nine hundred and forty-two years.
Now think about your own books. At the rate they’re selling today, how long would it take your book(s) to earn you $100,000? What about $300,000?
If your books earn you $500 a year, that’s 200 years.
$1,000 a year? That’s 100 years.
$2,000 a year? 50 years.
$5,000 a year? Still 20 years.
Can you now see why many authors are stuck but don't know why?
Whatever your number is, here’s the truth:
The problem was never your book. It’s that your book was built with the mindset of a writer, not a business owner.
Writing skills are good. Storytelling skills are good. But neither one gets you paid as an author. What gets you paid are author business skills, and that’s exactly what this book was built to hand you.
Then I discovered something that changed everything. My books were never meant to sit on a shelf and wait. They were meant to be the front door to a business. So I stopped writing one more book and hoping it would finally sell. Instead, I took one of my books, just one, and built a business around it:
Same author. Same knowledge. Same kind of book.
Now I want to show you a second screenshot. The first one showed what 17 books earned me in almost ten years. This one shows what two books, with a business built around them, brought in over 12 months.
Stripe gross volume, October 21, 2025 – October 21, 2026. CA$495K is over US$350K.
About US$350,000 in 12 months.
In the 12 months before, my business brought in about US$16,300. In the 12 months after I built it around two of my books, it brought in more than 21 times as much. Every spike on that chart is a launch, a masterclass or an event, all built from two books.
Seventeen books: US$1,061.41 in almost ten years. Two books with a business behind them: about US$350,000 in 12 months. The difference wasn’t the quality of my books. It was the business I built around them.
Let’s go back to the math.
My 17 books were earning me about $106 a year in royalties.
To earn US$350,000 at that rate, I would have needed...
about 3,300 years and weren’t.
I saved a little money.
It cost me ten years.
Now let me ask you something.
How many times have you told yourself, “I’ll figure it out on my own”?
How many courses, books or programs have you passed on because you wanted to save the money, only to spend another year stuck exactly where you are?
How long has your book been sitting there, waiting for you to work out what to do next?
Be honest with yourself.
Because if nothing changes, the next ten years will look a lot like the last ones. Another decade of waiting, guessing and hoping your book finally sells.
Hear this: You can always make more money. You can never make more time.
Struggling authors trade their time to save money. Successful authorpreneurs invest money to save time.
Right now, you have another chance to make that choice.
I can’t get my ten years back. But you don’t have to lose yours.
Everything I learned the hard way, including what to build, what to charge, how to sell and how to launch, is in Author Business Mastery, my 19th book.
This book is designed to give you back the ten years you’re about to flush down the drain.
You can spend the next decade figuring it out on your own.
Or you can spend a few evenings reading what took me ten years to discover.
For $60, you’re not just buying a book. You’re buying back your time.
The Amazon report covers 17 books in 25 formats. I stopped using Amazon from my 18th book onward; Author Business Mastery is my 19th book.
Sell More Books. Then Earn Far Beyond Them.
Book sales matter. Done right, they can bring in real income on their own, and every copy you sell brings a new reader into your business.
Most authors don’t struggle because books don’t sell. They struggle because their books are sold the wrong way: listed on Amazon, then left to wait.
In Author Business Mastery, I show you how to sell your book the way a business owner would:
And every reader who buys your book can go further with you. They may want a workbook to apply the ideas. A course to follow a process. A workshop to practise a skill. Or coaching to help with their own situation. An organisation may want your message delivered to its team. An event organiser may want you to teach it from a stage.
Hear this:
Your book can be a profitable product and the front door to your business at the same time.
You don’t need to build every possible offer. You need to sell your book well, find the right next step for your readers, and deliver it with excellence.
Author Business Mastery shows you how to do both, in the right order.
